The Senior Adviser plays a key role in translating the agency's strategic priorities into high-quality submissions across agency activities, including agendas and briefings, engagement approaches, and supporting the Commission for engagement opportunities. Operating at the intersection of policy, strategy and parliamentary process, the role ensures ASIC's positions are clearly articulated, evidence-based and aligned with government objectives.

Working closely with senior leaders and cross-agency stakeholders, the Senior Adviser develops compelling narratives, coordinates formal written outputs and supports ASIC's preparation for engagement with parliamentary stakeholders, other regulators and departments.

* Salary between $152,074 - $168,164 plus 15.4% superannuation

The team

ASIC's Strategy and Corporate Affairs Group is responsible for leading ASIC's communications and stakeholder engagement including internal, corporate and external communications (including media), as well as digital and social channels. Its purpose is to build and leverage strategic stakeholder relationships to drive engagement and protect and enhance ASIC's reputation.

Within the Group, the Government Relations team plays a critical role in ASIC's engagement with Ministers, Parliament, Commonwealth departments and other regulators. The team's purpose is to build trust and confidence through proactive, well‐considered engagement that aligns ASIC's priorities with the Government's Statement of Expectations.

The role As Senior Adviser, You Will Be Responsible For
* Preparing materials to support parliamentary committees, formal processes and leadership engagement activities, ensuring leaders are strategically briefed and supported for proactive meetings and official interactions.
* Coordinating cross-agency input into submissions, agendas and briefings, working closely with regulatory reform, implementation and finance teams to ensure accuracy, consistency and strategic coherence.
* Coordinating agency input and engaging with central agencies and the Treasury portfolio department to provide advice on proposals, clarify technical aspects and respond to feedback throughout assessment processes, ensuring alignment with agency priorities and adherence to governance and record‐keeping requirements.
* Monitoring the parliamentary and broader policy environment, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, and proactively aligning submission strategies and engagement preparation accordingly.
About You

You hold a degree in communications, journalism, public relations, law, economics or a related discipline, with at least 10 years' experience operating in complex policy or government environments. You bring demonstrated strategic and policy insight, including the ability to understand and navigate complex government and regulatory environments and recognise how policy, parliamentary and organisational processes intersect. You have a strong understanding of the federal parliamentary system and government processes, ideally including experience preparing for parliamentary committees and formal processes.

You are an exceptional writer with proven experience developing high-quality submissions and formal written materials within government or regulatory settings. You are skilled at working with subject matter experts and senior leaders to shape clear, evidence-based narratives aligned to strategic priorities.

Highly organised and intellectually curious, you proactively connect external developments with internal priorities. You demonstrate sound judgement, manage competing priorities with confidence and operate effectively in time-sensitive environments. You collaborate seamlessly across teams and ensure engagement activities are structured, strategically aligned and supported by rigorous preparation and follow-through.
