Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication Planning Engineer to join our team. This role does not involve staff management, as a dedicated supervisor is already in place. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving abilities within an engineering environment, a deep understanding of technical drawings, and prior experience in CNC machining and fabrication, ideally within the aerospace sector.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Strong problem-solving skills within an engineering environment
2. Comprehensive understanding of engineering drawings, including material specifications, treatments, assembly methods, and geometric tolerancing
3. Excellent communication skills
4. Previous experience in a CNC machine shop or fabrication environment
5. Apprentice trained or higher qualification
6. Experience within the aerospace industry
Role Expectations:
1. Review and contract-check all incoming orders entered into our MRP system
2. Assess production notes and drawings associated with purchase orders to confirm feasibility
3. Ensure all documentation is complete and confirmation sign-off is recorded in the MRP system
4. Communicate with customers regarding any requirements that cannot be met
5. Advise the programming team of any customer-specific tooling requirements to ensure timely preparation
6. Use the MRP system to plan routings and BOMs, ensuring that work orders are production-ready on schedule
7. Maintain and regularly update the engineering on-hold log, communicating relevant information to the necessary personnel
