About the Team
The position sits within the Legal team in the Office of General Counsel (OGC), which is led by the General Counsel and Executive Director, Risk & Compliance. OGC is part of the Vice-Chancellor and President's portfolio.
OGC comprises three teams: Legal, Risk & Insurance and Compliance. These teams are responsible for:
* Providing legal services and managing legal risk across UTS
* Supporting the identification and management of institutional risks and handling insurance-related matters
* Assisting the University Council and Leadership Team to meet their governance and regulatory compliance obligations
This structure enables the OGC to contribute as a strategic adviser to stakeholders across UTS.
About the Role
The Paralegal/Administration Officer provides general paralegal, administrative and operational support to the Legal team within the Office of General Counsel (OGC).
Responsibilities:
* Conducting legal research and assisting with preparing legal advices, agreements, and court-related documentation under supervision.
* Supporting the management of legal matters by triaging requests, coordinating subpoena responses, liaising with stakeholders, and maintaining legal records and precedents.
* Providing secretariat support including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items for the OGC.
* Delivering administrative and operational support such as diary management, event and seminar coordination, record management, and day‐to‐day office support.
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and assist with projects to enhance OGC processes, efficiency, and service delivery.
Key selection criteria
* Ability to liaise effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a large and complex organisation.
* Knowledge of legal databases and resources desirable (knowledge of ServiceNow is desirable).
* High level of computer literacy and technical aptitude, including demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications (spreadsheets, project management tools and presentation software) and ability to use different software "business tools" (e.g., ServiceConnect and Protecht or similar software) as well as high‐level word‐processing skills.
* Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, personal integrity and accountability, commensurate with position level.
* Completion (or close to completion) of a Bachelor level qualification in a related field (i.e., legal studies or any other equivalent qualifications) or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.
Base Salary Range: $85,165 - $97,429 pa (HEW 5)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is part time (FTE 0.8, 28 hours a week) and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
