The role
Position Summary
The Cleaner is responsible for delivering high-quality cleaning services within a secure Defence environment. This role is strictly limited to Australian citizens, as it requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and scheduled cleaning across secure Defence areas, including offices, training rooms, amenities, kitchens, and common spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitise surfaces in line with Defence hygiene standards.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of waste according to site and environmental regulations.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and in compliance with Defence site procedures.
- Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Strictly follow site access protocols, security requirements, and confidentiality obligations.
- Comply with all Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) policies and Defence regulations.
- Report hazards, maintenance issues, or security concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion at all times within a secure Defence workplace.
Mandatory Requirements
- Australian citizen (essential requirement for Defence site access).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance (Australian citizens only).
- Ability to comply with all Defence security, identification, and access requirements.
- Willingness to undergo background checks as required for Defence roles.
Skills & Experience
- Previous commercial or industrial cleaning experience (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards.
- Good time management and ability to work independently.
- Clear communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Physically fit and capable of manual work (standing, lifting, bending).
Benefits
- Pay rate: $34/hr.
- Working Hours: 8am to 4pm.
