Summary
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician may place, pack, or pour in a container for dispensing a drug, medicine or chemical which under the laws of the United States or the State of Arkansas, only on the prescription of a practitioner authorized by law to prescribe drugs, medicines or chemicals. This shall also include adding water for reconstitution of oral antibiotic liquids. A pharmacy technician may also place or affix a prescription label upon a container for dispensing purposes. As well as selecting a medication from a shelf and replacing upon shelves in the prescription department of a pharmacy. A pharmacy technician may also prepare order entry into the computer system that does not required any judgment decisions that could affect patient care. All of such information must be verified by a pharmacist before dispensing occurs. A pharmacy technician may obtain prescriber authorization for prescription refills but may not obtain prescription information on a new prescription.
Other Information
* High School diploma or GED is required.
* One or more years of college education preferred.
* Licensed as pharmacy technician with the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
* One year of community based pharmacy technician experience within past 12 months OR has graduated from an accredited pharmacy technician program within past 12 months.
* Must possess basic knowledge of pharmacy and medical terminology and the intended use of the drugs being assembled for patient use.
* Must be able to work well with others, communicate effectively, and possess good organizational and time management skills.
* Must possess the ability and initiative to plan for and complete daily activities with minimal supervision.
* Must have basic computer skills.
* Must have basic knowledge of general community based pharmacy workflow.
* This job will be authorized 40.00 hours bi-weekly.
