About the Role
We seek a senior, solutions‐focused lawyer to lead our energy regulatory legal advisory function. This role is central to navigating complex regulation and policy reforms, supporting major energy infrastructure projects, and shaping engagement with policy and legislative reform.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver strategic legal advice to teams managing the ongoing economic regulation of gas pipelines and electricity networks
* Support energy policy and legislative reform through collaboration with government affairs and regulatory teams
* Advise on energy regulatory and competition law issues across projects, transactions, and operations
* Lead legal input on energy regulatory compliance, investigations, enforcement actions and disputes
* Partner with commercial teams on energy regulatory aspects of customer contracting and risk management
* Manage engagement of external counsel and legal costs effectively
* Contribute to legal innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
* 8–10+ years' PQE in energy regulation, ideally from a top‐tier firm or major energy business
* Robust expertise across economic regulation, energy infrastructure and markets, regulatory frameworks, and competition law (including mergers)
* Proven experience advising on complex regulatory issues, investigations, and compliance regimes
* Strategic thinker able to translate complexity into practical, actionable advice
* Team-oriented, adaptable, and confident working with multidisciplinary teams
