About Us;
The State Cinema is a Hobart institution that has entertained generations of Tasmanians for over 100 years, playing a major role in the social and cultural life of the Hobart community. With eleven screens plus a Rooftop Cinema, there is always a wide range of local and international films on offer. A large café and boutique bar serves light meals along with a beautiful Bookstore with a hand-picked selection of stationery, books and gifts.
A casual cook joining our small kitchen team will work at times independently or with other senior kitchen staff to deliver high-quality food and dining experience serving traditional Australian cuisine to a range of cinema goes and café/bar regulars.
The Ideal Candidate;
Skills and Experience
Experience and confidence to work within a small team, as well as independently, in a small kitchen environment.
Enthusiasm for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences that exceed customer expectations.
Deep understanding of food safety protocols and regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Clear and effective communication abilities, both verbal and written, with the capacity to interact professionally with team members, suppliers, and customers as needed.
Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the hospitality industry.
Experience in inventory management, with confidence in maintaining and rotating stock appropriately.
Ability to follow established kitchen protocols, methods and recipes to a high standard, with the capability to problem solve where necessary.
Proven capability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, effectively prioritize tasks, and maintain composure under pressure while delivering high-quality results.
Cert III in Kitchen Operations or proven equivalent experience
Front of House and/or customer service experience is a bonus
From Us;
Candidates can expect 20-25 hours of work per week with the potential to move to a more regular roster with part-time hours.
