About The Role
Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior Cloud and Automation Engineer. This is a long-term contract role (12-month initial contract) with two 12-month extension options, located at our client's Canberra ACT office with primarily onsite working arrangements. Work from home may be considered on a case‐by‐case basis.
As The Selected Candidate, You Will
* Identify opportunities for automation within software development and operational processes
* Develop and execute automated testing using scripts and specialised tools
* Run automation tests across databases, systems, networks, and applications
* Design and implement automated cloud infrastructure solutions
* Identify bugs and quality issues throughout the software development lifecycle
* Work with internal stakeholders to streamline workflows through automation
* Manage complex cloud environments and ensure strong security controls for protecting sensitive data
* Contribute to scalable and resilient cloud platforms supporting PROTECTED capabilities
To Be Successful In This Role You Should Have
* Strong understanding of computer programming and software development
* Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field
* Experience with automation tools and automated testing frameworks
* Ability to troubleshoot systems and perform complex testing and diagnostics
* Strong analytical, organisational, and problem‐solving skills
* Excellent communication and leadership abilities when working within development teams
It Is Desirable If You Have
* Strong programming and scripting experience
* Expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred)
* Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks
* Experience designing secure cloud environments for government or enterprise systems
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with an active NV1 security clearance.
