Argyle Projects is a hands-on residential and mixed-use developer with a pipeline exceeding 190 homes and approximately $120M in active and upcoming projects.
We are entering our next stage of growth and are looking for a Senior Development Manager who is ready to step into a true leadership role — not just manage projects but own them.
This role is for someone in the prime of their career. Experienced. Grounded. Commercially sharp. Driven. Ambitious.
Our business is on an upward trajectory, and this role is an opportunity to help shape what Argyle becomes.
We value capability, accountability and independent thinkers.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for projects from early site analysis and acquisition due diligence through to completion and settlement.
You will work closely with the acquisitions team, councils, external consultants and delivery partners to ensure projects are executed with clarity, discipline and commercial control.
For the first three months, you will work directly alongside the Managing Director to understand every aspect of the business — how decisions are made, how risk is assessed, and how capital is deployed. You will not be expected to simply absorb. You will challenge thinking and refine processes and value add to the existing business operations.
Who You Are:
You are detailed, borderline meticulous. You know that development is fundamentally risk management and you treat it that way.
You:
Have 10+ years' experience across the full development lifecycle
Ideally have delivered, or have experience in, multi-staged communities and multi sector developments including but not limited to Apartments, Greenfield Development and Commercial outcomes
Operate in a consultant and construction management model
Understand the construction lifecycle deeply
Are hands-on and commercially disciplined
Deliver what you commit to
Communicate directly and clearly
Make time for important conversations rather than reacting on the fly
Have grit and follow-through
Are comfortable leading and mentoring others
You don't hide from accountability.
You want real ownership.
You'll be Responsible For:
Acquisition & Feasibility Leadership
Undertake early site analysis and development due diligence
Provide commercial guidance during acquisition negotiations
Structure feasibilities and development strategies pre- and post-acquisition
Identify planning, delivery and capital risk before commitment
End-to-End Project Leadership
Lead developments from acquisition through to completion and settlement
Own programme, cost, quality and risk
Maintain momentum without compromising commercial discipline
Commercial & Feasibility Control
Refine and manage feasibilities throughout the lifecycle
Monitor budgets, cash flow and contingency
Identify commercial risks early and act decisively
Provide clear, accurate reporting to the Managing Director
Appoint and lead architects, planners, engineers and other consultants where required
Drive practical, commercially sensible design outcomes
Manage planning approvals and authority engagement
Lead contractor selection, tender processes and contract negotiation
Oversee construction performance, variations and contractual risk
Leadership & Growth
Mentor and support team members
Contribute to system refinement and stronger development frameworks
Help shape the foundations for Argyle's next stage of growth
Remuneration:This is a genuine leadership role and remuneration will reflect the level of responsibility, commercial accountability and portfolio scale.
We are seeking A-grade capability and will structure the right package for the right person.
We reward ownership, commercial discipline and results.
Recruitment Process:
This is a senior appointment and our process reflects that. It will include:
An initial alignment conversation
A second-stage technical and commercial discussion
A final leadership and values interview
A practical project-based assessment designed to understand how you think, structure risk, and approach feasibility
We are looking for long-term alignment.
If you are serious about stepping into a senior role within a growing development business with a Managing Director and team that will back you, we welcome your application.
