Cannabis Council Australia is the national peak body for the medicinal cannabis sector, working to integrate these medicines within Australia's mainstream healthcare system. We advocate for safe, ethical, and equitable access by supporting evidence-based policy, clinical best practice, and regulatory reform.
Led by CEO Lisa Penlington — a health leader with strategic policy expertise and safety and quality integration — Cannabis Council Australia works constructively with government, regulators, health professionals, and patient groups to ensure medicinal cannabis is treated like any other therapeutic option: subject to clinical oversight, governed by data, and delivered with care.

Member
Partnership and Governance Lead
will manage the membership functions of Cannabis Council Australia, building and driving member engagement, and supporting the CEO to establish and manage the member representation functions of the CCA, including those of its expert advisory body and related committee structure. Working with the internal and stakeholders, the Member Partnerships and Governance Lead will act to shape and execute member initiatives that elevate the association's profile, strengthen member value, and foster a vibrant CCA member community that informs the work of the CCA.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain the CCA member register.
* Engage with CCA members, managing their enquiries and gathering insights to inform the CCA's member value proposition, membership structure and drive membership growth.
* Increase member engagement by developing and delivering value-driven programs, services, and opportunities for networking, education, and business growth.
* Organise events, workshops, and conferences that address industry needs and enhance the association's reputation and reach.
* Working with the CEO and the Board, develop and support the member representation structure and functions of the CCA, including its expert advisory body and related committee structure.
* Working with the CEO and Policy and Regulatory Adviser, collaborate with the Board and relevant committees to develop and promote policy positions, white papers, and thought leadership initiatives.
* Working with the CEO and Policy and Regulatory Adviser, monitor industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring the association is proactive in addressing issues that impact the industry and members.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
* Demonstrated experience across the key responsibilities in the not-for-profit sector, preferably within an industry advocacy, trade or professional association. Experience in the healthcare sector an advantage.
* Experience in peak body governance processes at Board committee level.
* Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and complex professional/trade/industry representative environments.
* Excellent communication skills, written and interpersonal.
* Strong financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, with revenue generation through fundraising or membership models an advantage.
* Strong data analysis skills.
* Passion for the organisation's cause, to drive positive impact and industry change.
