We are seeking a highly motivated Radiation Oncologist to join the Northern Cancer Service, based in Launceston.About The Northern Cancer Service The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive and integrated cancer care, offering state-of-the-art medical oncology, radiation oncology, and haematology services to a population of approximately 250,000 people across Northern Tasmania. The service operates radiation therapy sites in both Launceston and Burnie. The WP Holman Clinic Launceston has the capacity to operate up to three linear accelerators. The WP Holman Clinic provides outreach services to our Burnie site. Burnie currently operates as a single-machine unit, with a second linear accelerator on site for service expansion.Your Role & Opportunities Our Radiation Oncology Team consists of:5 Radiation Oncologists1 fully accredited Advanced Trainee1 newly qualified Radiation Oncologist (IMG) has recently joined the team for at least the next 18 months.Patient CareProvide Consultant Service to inpatients and admit patients under their care.Conduct or direct out-patient clinics in Radiation Oncology Services.Participate in quality assurance programs for the Radiation Oncology Services.Participate in an After Hours Consultants On call Roster for Radiation Oncology Services.Launceston provides Brachytherapy services for the entire state of Tasmania.TeachingParticipate in undergraduate and postgraduate specialist trainee teaching.Liaise with the University of Tasmania, Department of Medicine in respect to the teaching of undergraduates.Research & Multidisciplinary CollaborationOur clinical trials and research unit, based in Launceston, runs a range of Phase 2 & 3 trials.A rigorous Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) program fosters collaborative patient care.Maintain an active involvement in research.Why Join Us This is a unique opportunity to join a progressive and inspiring team, working alongside a supportive and experienced executive group, as well as a highly skilled and motivated team of radiation therapists, radiation nurses, physicists, and engineers. Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicantStart Date: As soon as possibleLocation: WP Holman Clinic LauncestonSalary A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.The remuneration package for this position, based on classification as a Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starts at $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania).Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3: $216,300 - $310,389 per annumAccess to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to criteria outlined in the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022Total package for the successful candidate may include the following:Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annumContinuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 per annumRelocation package and accommodation allowance available up to $20,000Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata, of additional payment will be paid from PPSEligibility Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in the specialty of radiation oncologyFellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of RadiologistsThe Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
