Job Type: Temporary position | Full time position. Pay: $49-60 per hour + super. Contract until 26 February 2026 with possible extensions. Location: Cheltenham VIC with WFH flexibility. Parking onsite. 38 hours per week. Start date: 22 December.
About the Role
Our client is a local government organisation governing the city of Kingston. We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join their team in Cheltenham VIC on a temp contract basis until 26 February 2026 with possible extensions.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce high quality monthly management financial reports compliant with accounting standards and internal processes and procedures.
* Ensure the Finance team, Managers, Team Leaders and Co-coordinators meet monthly reporting deadlines.
* Conduct complex financial analysis and use corporate applications to meet organisational requirements.
* Assist with month-end processes to meet financial targets and deadlines.
* Own the completion of the end-of-month reporting cycle for assigned business areas, providing financial analysis and support for operational budget development and variance investigation.
* Review cash flow requirements to propose and produce reports for investment options aligned with Council policy and external market data.
* Maintain accurate, integral and timely financial databases and reports, advising on system enhancements and reconciling to maintain reliable information.
* Contribute to team collaboration and innovation, maintaining effective relationships and participating in the development of innovative service delivery enhancements.
Qualifications
* CPA/CA qualification or equivalent.
* Proficiency in using Technology One (including ExcelOne report writing skill) or similar ERP system.
* Strong technical accounting skills.
* Experience as a Finance Business Partner in a similar role – 3 to 5 years' experience in a financial/management accounting environment.
* Advanced Excel skills and large data analysis experience.
