This role is ideal for a creative video editor passionate about storytelling and social media engagement. You will collaborate with a British contemporary artist to craft compelling short-form videos that document the creation of chainmail sculptures, focusing on themes of Englishness and social commentary. The content will be shared primarily on Instagram and YouTube, aiming to build a stronger connection with online audiences. You will work with existing footage, including working process, voiceover, and contextual clips, to produce engaging narratives that resonate with viewers. The position requires sensitivity to cultural topics and the ability to deliver high-quality edits on a quick turnaround, with the potential for ongoing collaboration.
Deliverables
Edit short-form videos (1–5 minutes) for Instagram and YouTube, using provided footage and voiceover.
Craft engaging narratives that highlight the artistic process and underlying themes.
Incorporate supporting context footage to enhance storytelling.
Ensure all content aligns with the artist's vision and maintains sensitivity to English culture and social commentary.
Deliver edits within agreed timelines, often with quick turnaround.
Collaborate remotely and communicate effectively regarding feedback and revisions.
Requirements
Proven experience editing social media content, especially for Instagram and YouTube.
Strong storytelling skills and the ability to convey complex ideas concisely.
Deep understanding of English culture and sensitivity to social issues.
Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple edits with tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and openness to feedback.
Availability for ongoing work and flexibility to accommodate project needs.
