About the Role The Procurement Manager – SRM is responsible for driving the delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement of the organisation's Supplier Relationship Management framework.
The position focuses on building strong supplier partnerships, maximising contract value, strengthening governance, and enhancing performance while proactively identifying risks and opportunities across the supply base.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Supplier Engagement
* Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers.
* Work with category leads and internal stakeholders to understand organisational priorities and supplier landscape.
* Proactively seek feedback from suppliers to improve buy/sell dynamics and relationship satisfaction.
Performance, Compliance & Governance
* Ensure SRM activities align with Procurement and third‑party risk policies.
* Maintain accurate supplier information, meeting notes, contacts, and contractual records.
* Administer KPIs, SLAs, and procurement proposals in line with Victorian Government Procurement Board (VGPB) requirements.
* Track supplier performance, manage performance improvement plans, and escalate issues as needed.
* Identify and support risk mitigation across commercial, regulatory, operational, and performance areas.
Value, Innovation & Continuous Improvement
* Identify value opportunities aligned with procurement, category, and organisational objectives.
* Promote "customer of choice" positioning to attract innovation and supplier-led solutions.
* Support initiatives to increase engagement with Aboriginal-owned, SME and regional suppliers.
* Drive internal engagement, adoption, and understanding of SRM program requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial and negotiation capability.
* Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and support organisational change.
* Demonstrated experience identifying value opportunities and supporting joint planning with suppliers.
* State Government experience (mandatory).
Desirable Attributes
* Ability to develop strong, trusted supplier relationships.
* Knowledge of SRM best practice, government procurement frameworks, and supplier governance.
* Strong process management and problem‑solving capability.
* Tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain, project management or similar (or equivalent experience).
* Experience in supplier contract management, commercial management, or procurement (2–3 years minimum).
