Overview
The Australian Government is seeking applications for the full‑time statutory position of Associate Director at the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP). The CDPP is an independent agency established under the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1983, responsible for prosecuting a wide range of alleged criminal and regulatory offences across Australia.
Responsibilities
* Exercise the powers, functions and decision‑making responsibilities of the Director under the Act and the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth.
* Lead a specialist national legal practice operating in the public sector context.
* Foster a culture of innovation and modernisation within the CDPP.
* Work collaboratively with partner agencies and stakeholders to meet the CDPP's strategic objectives.
* Engage with stakeholders and invest in the staff of the CDPP to provide an efficient and effective prosecution service.
Qualifications
* Legal practitioner for no less than 5 years.
* Appointment as Senior Counsel or King's Counsel is preferred.
* Outstanding leader with high level judgment and integrity.
* Strong achievement orientation and excellent communication skills.
* Ability to exercise the powers of the Director under the Act.
