About the Partner Organisation
The PNG Partnerships for Improving Education (PIE) program is a collaborative initiative between the Governments of Papua New Guinea, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, and Australia. PIE operates across national and sub-national levels in PNG, with a primary focus on supporting early grade teaching and learning where foundational literacy and numeracy skills are developed.
PIE aims to improve access, equity, and student learning outcomes in the early grades by strengthening career development for teachers and enhancing governance and service delivery across the education system. The program works in close partnership with teachers, schools, education authorities, and policymakers to ensure sustained, systemic improvements in teaching quality and student performance.
The Communications Specialist will provide strategic advice, mentoring, and technical input to NDoE's Communications Team, helping to build sustainable skills in content development, stakeholder engagement, and public messaging. Due to a shortage of specialised communications expertise within the Department, this role cannot be filled locally at present. The volunteer will work collaboratively to build the team\'s confidence and capacity in delivering high-quality, locally relevant communications products.
