We are seeking an experienced Freedom of Information Officer to join a dynamic team within a key South Australian Government department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of FOI applications under the Freedom of Information Act 1991.

You will be responsible for assessing applications, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and drafting determinations within legislated timeframes. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, robust analytical skills, and a commitment to public service transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess and manage FOI applications in accordance with the FOI Act, including Sections 13 and 181.
- Prepare written determinations and correspondence, ensuring clarity and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Liaise with applicants, third parties, and other government agencies to facilitate information access.
- Provide expert advice on FOI matters and contribute to policy development and procedural improvements.
- Support the FOI Unit Manager in resource allocation and team coordination.

Essential Criteria:

- Demonstrated understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 1991 and related legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive content with discretion and professionalism.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
