The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Senior Irrigation Officer to join our Parks and Landscapes Service Team. You will be a passionate team player that has a genuine commitment to customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
* Under limited direction manage day to day scheduling and maintenance works of irrigation field operations.
* Ensure irrigation application strategies and water budgeting practices are effectively undertaken in line with the City's water management principles.
* To provide guidance and direction to team members relating to irrigation maintenance and programmes as required.
* Supervision and monitoring of Contractors and associated works, equipment, materials, practices and procedures.
* Undertake purchasing, including the preparation and assessment of procurement documentation, manage contracts and monitor contractor performance, and approve and report on expenditure for projects and programs to ensure delivery within established project or program budgets.
To succeed in this position, you will need to possess the following:
* Possession of an irrigation installation and operations qualification or relevant similar experience.
* Working knowledge, fault diagnosis and the ability to repair electrical and hydraulic aspects related to irrigation systems, including automatic valves and controllers, and a working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems.
* Practical experience in monitoring and adjusting irrigation application rates to sustain healthy turf and plant condition, whilst adhering to water allocations and water budgeting principles.
* Demonstrate leadership skills, including the ability to lead, motivate and performance manage staff whilst promoting a team ethos.
* Good written and oral communication skills, including basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
* Current C class licence.
