This role is office based in Canberra.
**ROLE**
This is a hands on role providing support services and advice, across the full spectrum of work health and
safety (WHS) activities, to a broad suite of internal customers. As part of the WHS team the role will be key
in enabling ASIS to meet its legislative requirements and deliver best practice health and safety initiatives.
The role requires an engaged and capable team member with the capacity to self-start and work
autonomously. As a motivated individual you enjoy developing solutions to complex safety, health and well
- being problems, you are excited by the prospect of working in a non-traditional WHS environment and you
bring an educated and considered approach to your work.
As part of a high-volume, high-intensity work group you will be able to meet deadlines, providing accurate
advice and assistance while delivering on agreed outcomes and contributing to the management of health
and safety risks at ASIS. You easily develop and maintain rapport with others forming working relationships
that are underpinned by collaboration and customer service and help drive the organisation's pursuit of an
imbedded safety culture.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**
The following is an overview of key responsibilities and tasks:
follow up of required controls, remediations and support packages
Coordinate the running of ASIS' First Aid Officer and Fire Warden corporate networks and provide
administrative support for the Health and Safety Representative network
Carry out the secretariat function for the Work Health and Safety Committee (WHSC)
Effectively utilise the hazard and incident reporting system responding to reports in a timely and
appropriate manner
Undertake and contribute to the completion and review of workplace risk assessments
Contribute to the development and delivery of workplace health and well-being initiatives
Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of WHS briefings and training
Provide well researched timely advice on WHS matters

**EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Experience working with WHS legislation
Experience coordinating work groups and minor projects
Relevant WHS or tertiary qualifications
