We are partnering with a rapidly expanding financial services group specialising in mortgage broking and mortgage management to find their new Head of Risk & Compliance.
Following the successful acquisition of several firms, this organisation is scaling quickly and preparing for a significant milestone: an Initial Public Offering (IPO) later this year. This creates a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the executive team and build the governance architecture necessary for scalable, investable growth.
This is not a "business as usual" role. You will have the mandate to design, implement, and own the enterprise-wide Risk & Compliance Framework from the ground up, eventually building a team to support your vision.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will act as the organization's primary Risk & Compliance Officer. You will partner with the Board, executive leadership, and key stakeholders to proactively safeguard the firm's operations and strengthen its risk culture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build the Framework: Design and implement enterprise-wide risk and compliance frameworks, creating the governance architecture required for a listed entity.
* Lead Compliance: oversee compliance activities for both mortgage broking and mortgage management arms, including tender processes, contractual compliance, and protocol development.
* Manage Risk: Initially working hands-on, you will manage credit, portfolio performance, operational, and acquisition risk across the group.
* IPO Readiness: Play a pivotal role in preparing the business for its upcoming IPO, ensuring all governance structures meet institutional standards.
* Team Leadership: While starting hands-on, you will recruit and lead a team to manage risk and compliance across the organization as it scales.
* ESG & Innovation: Oversee and improve the ESG framework and stay ahead of regulatory changes to ensure the business remains compliant and competitive.
About You
We are looking for a hands-on leader with high integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative style. You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to build frameworks from scratch while having the strategic vision to engage with Boards and executives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* 5-7 years of senior experience in risk, compliance, and privacy, ideally within the financial services sector.
* Fluency in Mandarin is essential for this role to effectively engage with key stakeholders and support the company's specific growth strategy.
* Strong understanding of AML/CTF, ESG, privacy, and regulatory risk frameworks.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk, Compliance, or Law.
* Demonstrated ability to drive risk ownership among business leaders and transition founder-led businesses to institutional governance.
Why Join?
* The chance to create and own the Risk & Compliance Framework rather than just inheriting one.
* A pivotal role in a company preparing for an IPO, offering significant professional development.
* A collaborative, flexible, and casual culture that values work-life balance and high performance.
* A competitive base salary of $170k - $230k + superannuation.
