12-months + Extensions
Location:
Remote - 3/4 days in the Canberra Office per month.
Must be able Australian Citizen and able to obtain NV1 Clearance.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise storage and backup systems spanning on-premises and cloud environments. You'll be responsible for ensuring the security, resilience, and recoverability of critical business data across physical data centres, AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Implementation:
Architect and deploy scalable storage and backup solutions across on-premises (NetApp SAN/NAS) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
* Backup & Recovery:
Manage and optimise enterprise backup solutions using
CommVault
, including policy development, performance tuning, and automation.
* Disaster Recovery:
Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans aligned to RPO/RTO objectives.
* Performance & Capacity Management:
Monitor and optimise system health, performance, and capacity planning for future scalability.
* Security & Compliance:
Apply encryption, access controls, and immutability for backups in compliance with ASD Essential 8, GDPR, and internal data protection policies.
* Automation & Scripting:
Streamline infrastructure operations using
PowerShell, Python, or Bash
scripting and leverage Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
* Documentation & Collaboration:
Maintain detailed architectural diagrams, configuration records, and recovery documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
About You
* Proven experience managing and optimising
NetApp storage systems
(SAN/NAS/DAS) in complex enterprise environments.
* Hands-on expertise with
CommVault
enterprise backup and recovery systems, including automation and integration with cloud services.
* Strong knowledge of
AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Recovery Services, AWS Backup
, and
M365 storage integration.
* Deep understanding of
Windows Server
and
Linux
operating systems, including file systems and permissions management.
* Experience with
VMware vSphere
and
Microsoft Hyper-V
virtualisation platforms.
* Familiarity with
storage networking protocols
(iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB/CIFS).
* Experience implementing
data encryption (at rest and in transit)
and
immutability solutions
for secure data storage.
* Proficiency in
monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting tools
for infrastructure health and backup success tracking.
* Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills in hybrid IT environments.
