The Director Clinical Research & Market Access, APAC will lead, develop, and execute market access and clinical research activities across the Asia-Pacific region, aligning with the strategic direction and priorities for the Orthopaedics, Spine & Digital portfolio.
This position can be based in Singapore or Sydney, Australia.
The Role
1. Champion the needs of APAC by ensuring key research needs are understood and incorporated into division commercial planning. Develop and coordinate an APAC-wide research strategy that communicates the economic and clinical value Stryker products can deliver across the APAC healthcare environment.
2. Coordinate, develop, and execute research plans to support the business’s growth expectations across the region, developing research KOLs to enhance the company's podium and publication presence regionally and globally.
3. Accelerate product speed to market in APAC and maximize reimbursement opportunities in collaboration with Regulatory and commercial leaders.
4. Partner with legal, compliance, commercial, and division teams to gain market access for current and future digital infrastructure, products, and services.
5. Build relationships with educational institutes outside of Stryker to enhance clinical and reimbursement capabilities across APAC.
6. Focus on Japan, SSP, and China, while developing capabilities in India and East Asia, working closely with regional marketing leadership, local GMs, and business teams to drive growth and align needs.
7. Foster regional synergy and promote APAC needs to the division, influencing and selling the region's potential and fostering collaboration on key programs.
8. Create an APAC clinical research leadership group to share activities, maximize trial value, and communicate product value effectively.
9. Proactively identify and support business opportunities through VOC with local customers and KOLs to develop and execute market access and clinical research activities.
10. Develop and maintain a 5-10 year market access, reimbursement, and clinical research roadmap for the region, including investments and impact metrics. Collaborate with division and regional teams to accelerate product market entry.
11. Support capability building in APAC reimbursement and clinical research teams, focusing on excellence and contributing to commercialization and product launches.
Key areas of accountability:
* Develop and grow clinical research capabilities, accelerate market access, and reimbursement in APAC.
* Design and execute clinical research strategies for Orthopaedics, Spine & Digital, establishing thought leadership.
* Develop a regional KOL network, build trusted relationships, and facilitate research, podium, and publication strategies.
* Maintain relationships with universities, governments, and key organizations outside Stryker.
* Participate actively in APAC product launch teams to accelerate market access and maximize reimbursement.
* Ensure a compelling economic and value-based health proposition for Digital, Robotic, and Enabling technologies.
Provide clinical and reimbursement coordination:
* Collaborate with global and regional teams on clinical strategies and market access plans.
* Serve as the point of contact for APAC clinical research and reimbursement activities.
* Develop and maintain a 5-10 year clinical research and reimbursement roadmap for APAC.
* Build and sustain a regional institute and KOL map, understanding capabilities and specializations.
Team Development
* Mentor and develop teams in clinical research, market access, and reimbursement.
* Promote a culture of integrity, achievement, and alignment with Stryker values.
Regulatory Strategy
* Work with regulatory teams on strategies to support digital and data handling laws in the region, building a growth plan for scalable data intelligence and real-world evidence collection.
The Candidate
* Bachelor, Master’s, or PhD in a scientific or engineering field.
* 10+ years of relevant clinical experience, with success at a senior level.
* Extensive experience in Orthopaedics and Spine preferred.
* Strong knowledge of clinical trial design, governance, and publication pathways.
* Proven ability to develop clinical research plans and drive clinical excellence.
* High capability in KOL management and development.
* Excellent influencing skills across cultures and seniority levels.
* Ability to manage complex projects, think strategically, and execute effectively.
