THE ROLE Reporting to the Social Services Regulator and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Director, Legal and Internal Review (General Counsel) is responsible for a providing senior executive leadership and strategic direction in legal and legal-related matters in the Social Services Regulator (SSR). The Executive Director, Legal and Internal Review (General Counsel) leads the SSR's Legal and Internal Review Division in providing a full suite of legal services including, but not limited to the following: providing expert, timely and practical legal advice to the Regulator and the Executive providing, or managing, legal representation for the SSR in litigation, coronial investigations and inquests, Royal Commissions and any other inquiry or investigation. providing representation for the Regulator in matters as required. overseeing the internal review program and processes managing relationships with external legal providers and the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA). contributing to organisational strategy, governance and decision-making as a key member of the Executive Team. This position provides thought leadership on scheme reform issues and identifies continuous improvement opportunities in our regulatory and policy settings.
