About the Role
We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Underground Mine Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team at Fitzroy's Ironbark No.1.
This key statutory and operational leadership role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant management of all underground mining operations.
As a trusted leader, you will provide strategic and technical direction to deliver production and development targets, uphold statutory obligations, and lead a high-performing team aligned with Fitzroy's values of safety, responsibility, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Fulfil the statutory obligations of Underground Mine Manager under Queensland legislation.
Lead and manage underground operations to achieve production, development, and cost objectives safely and efficiently.
Drive a proactive safety culture ensuring every person goes home healthy and unharmed.
Develop and implement operational plans covering ventilation, geotechnical, and production schedules.
Appoint and support statutory officials, ensuring they are competent and empowered to fulfil their responsibilities.
Oversee workforce planning, training, and professional development to build capability and succession.
Foster collaboration across technical, engineering, maintenance, and surface operations for optimal performance.
Lead investigations, implement corrective actions, and embed learnings to strengthen performance.
Uphold Fitzroy's commitments to sustainability, environmental compliance, and community engagement.
What We're Looking For
A First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (Coal – Qld).
Extensive experience in underground coal mining (longwall and/or bord and pillar operations).
Proven understanding of Queensland mining legislation, safety systems, and statutory reporting.
A strong track record of achieving production and development targets safely.
A genuine commitment to developing and mentoring others to achieve their potential.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative leadership style.
An innovative mindset – embracing new technologies, systems, and ideas to enhance safety and performance.
