About the Opportunity
As part of the Austal Defence Australia (ADA) team, the Infrastructure and Capability Deputy Project Manager (DPM) supports the Project Manager in planning, executing, and delivering projects within scope, budget, and timeline. This role acts as the second-in-command, ensuring smooth coordination across teams, monitoring progress, and stepping in to lead when the Project Manager is unavailable. The Deputy Project Manager is a key liaison between stakeholders, project staff, and senior leadership.
The Deputy Project Manager will support the coordination of teams, contractors, and stakeholders to establish a fully functional facility capable of supporting complex shipbuilding operations.

What's Involved
* Accountable for assisting in the development and execution of project plans, ensuring milestones are met.
* Support Project Manager to oversee day-to-day activities of project staff, internal stakeholders and contractors.
* Stakeholder Communication, maintain clear, timely, and accurate communication with stakeholders.
* Identify risks, document issues, and support mitigation strategies.
* Compliance & Quality Assurance - Ensure project activities adhere to organizational standards, policies, and quality benchmarks.
* Financial Tracking,
Monitor project expenditures and support budget control.
* Provide leadership support by leading meetings, site inspections, and reporting when the Project Manager is unavailable.
You'll Need
Essential
* 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, project support, or junior project management roles.
* Diploma or higher qualification in Project Management, or progress towards qualification.
* Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
* Industry-specific experience in defence infrastructure.
* Proven and Effective communications skills, and proven stakeholder management ability.
* Demonstrated experience working on complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
* Proven track record of supporting project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
Desirable
* Project Management Experience in Industrial Construction Industry.
* Project Management certification through a professional PM Body.
* Defence or Government project experience.
* Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, Master of Project Management) desirable but not essential.
* Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent certification.
