About the RoleOur State Government client is seeking an experienced Communications Advisor (AO5) to deliver strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and issues management support across major infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project teams, technical specialists and senior leaders to provide high-level advice across community engagement, media liaison, risk communications and stakeholder relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic communications advice to Project Directors, managers and staff, including guidance on difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
- Prepare high-quality communication materials including project collateral, media releases, ministeriais briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials and speech notes.
- Develop stakeholder management strategies and consult with a broad range of community and industry groups.
- Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities for infrastructure projects, including supporting project managers with communication strategy development and implementation.
- Provide advice on media relations, issues management, crisis communications, community engagement and risk assessment.
- Plan and manage key communication events such as commissioning activities, launches, media opportunities and public events.
- Provide training and support to project teams and consultants to strengthen communication capability and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, procedures and policies that enable successful project outcomes.
- Ensure all communication practices align with organisational policies, safety requirements and governance obligations.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing difficult stakeholders and facilitating critical conversations.
- Previous exposure to major infrastructure projects and confidence with social media channels.
- IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement.
- Understanding of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
