The Senior Nurse Advisor (SNA) provides high-level strategic and professional support to the Principal Nurse – Professional Advisory and contributes broadly to the Australian College of Nursing (ACN). This role involves developing and reviewing policy documents and submissions addressing key issues affecting the nursing profession. The SNA has a pivotal role in shaping ACN's advocacy agenda, ensuring output reflects the evolving needs of members, affiliates, and the broader health system.
In alignment with ACN's Strategic Directions, the SNA leads and supports Professional Advisory Portfolios to deliver evidence-informed, member- focused, and advocacy-driven outcomes. The role also fosters collaboration across ACN to amplify the nursing voice in national policy discussions and promote the profession's value and impact.

Selection Criteria
* Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Minimum of three years' experience in senior healthcare or policy advisory roles, demonstrating a strong foundation in clinical practice and strategic policy engagement.
* Demonstrated ability to lead the development of strategic policy documents, including briefs, reports, and submissions.
* Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across sectors, including government, professional bodies, and health services.
* Advanced problem-solving and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in high-volume, deadline- driven environments.
* Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a track record of building and maintaining influential relationships.
* Advanced understanding of the Australian health and aged care systems, including current policy frameworks and reform agendas.
* Demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating complex projects or portfolios within a health or policy context.
* High level of professionalism, sound judgement, and alignment with ACN's values and strategic priorities.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualifications in health policy, public health, nursing, leadership, or a related field.
* Experience representing an organisation in national-level policy forums, working groups, or committees.
* Experience with reference management tools and digital platforms used in policy development or stakeholder engagement.
