The main function of the CNC Trades Assistant supports trade qualified CNC machinists and operations staff in the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines.
The role focuses on assisting with machine setups, operating machines, managing tooling, performing basic measurements, and maintaining a safe and efficient workshop environment.
The position requires a general understanding and be able to demonstrate an ability to use basic measuring equipment, including basic CNC machine operation.
Working as part of a team and being a positive communicator will ensure that we are building a collaborative work environment.
This position will require a police check and pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol screening to be undertaken during the recruitment process.
Your Day | Your Week
Assist in the setup of CNC mills and lathes, including loading fixtures, vices, chucks, and work-holding devices.
Load raw material into machines and remove finished parts safely and efficiently.
Help prepare and install tooling, including changing indexable inserts, collets, and cutting tools as directed by trade qualified machinists.
Monitor basic machine operations and alert machinists to any unusual noises, tool wear, or potential issues.
Deburr using manual methods all parts manufactured to required standard for issuing to CMM Inspection.
Conduct basic housekeeping tasks including cleaning machines, removal of swarf, coolant top-ups, as well as maintaining a clean and tidy general working area and the machinery.
