We are looking for applicants who will be keen to make a real difference to patient care by providing clinical leadership, training and supporting clinical governance.
The region has a fledgling GP training scheme that we wish to expand in the next few years. Recently, there has been a significant investment in junior staffing across both Port Pirie and Wallaroo hospitals that has contributed positively to the working environment, leading to increased clinical safety and efficiency.
There are Consultant posts available at Wallaroo Emergency Department and Port Pirie Emergency Department. Both departments have seen a 10% increase in attendances over the last year. All applicants must have attained a post‑graduate qualification or be within six months of attaining this. Doctors who have attained FACEM, FRACGP and FACRRM are welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities

* Oversee the day‑to‑day management of the emergency department to ensure safe and efficient operations.
* Respond to MET / Code Blue / Code Black calls as required during shifts.
* Supervise, mentor and provide guidance to junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
* Participate in teaching, quality assurance, continuous improvement, health promotion, and community education initiatives.
* Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes and departmental performance.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a committed and highly skilled medical practitioner who holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, with appropriate specialist qualifications such as FACEM, FACRRM, or FRACGP. The successful applicant will be registrable, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration, or hold an equivalent qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award. You will demonstrate a proven ability to work independently, lead clinical teams, and deliver high‑quality emergency care within a multidisciplinary environment.
