We are looking for an enthusiastic academic to join our teaching staff in the Humanities Team at Curtin College with design background.

**Overview and Objectives of the Position**:
Academic Teachers at Curtin College are responsible for delivering high quality education to a diverse cohort of students. Responsibilities will include delivery and assessment of curriculum, sourcing and/or development of teaching materials, providing ongoing feedback to students, monitoring student progress, actively engaging with students to ensure learning needs are met, maintenance of administrative duties and record keeping and engagement in professional development activities.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:
**Academic teacher responsibilities include the following**:

- Undertake teaching for nominated unit(s) within relevant program(s)
- Contribute to the development of learning and teaching materials including assessment tasks
- Participate in assessment processes for nominated units including, but not limited to, internal and external moderation activities, assessment committees, appeal of results, student progress and intervention, record keeping and academic conduct
- Provide advice and assistance to students on academic matters relating to their unit, policies and procedures, and refer students to relevant staff as/if necessary
- Provide advice and assistance to students around matters of academic integrity and identify and manage breaches of academic integrity in compliance with the relevant policies and procedures
- Monitor student progress in their studies and provide support when and where necessary
- Contributing to student engagement and retention initiatives
- Prepare relevant unit performance reports for consideration by academic committees
- Participate in unit/course reviews
- Ensure quality assurance for units and programs in relation to regulatory requirements
- Contribute to and participate in professional development programs (learning & teaching and discipline-specific)
- Maintain scholarship in the discipline and higher education learning & teaching
- Adhere to Curtin College and Curtin University (where applicable) policies, procedures and Code of Conduct

**If nominated as Unit Coordinator, other responsibilities may include the following**:

- Preparation of Unit Outline
- Preparation of learning & teaching materials to be made available on the Learning Management System
- Write assessments when required including alternative/supplementary/deferred assessments
- Compliance with Curtin College learning & teaching initiatives as they are introduced
- Contribution to Curtin College learning & teaching plan and achieving education objectives
- Undertake required moderation, validation and external referencing/peer review of unit materials and assessments
- Coordinate nominated unit/s and manage and lead teaching teams
- Liaise with Program Coordinator, Student & Academic Services staff and teaching staff within relevant units regarding student progress and related matters as appropriate
- Building and maintaining relationships, where relevant, with Curtin University
- Collaborate with the Curtin University Coordinator to adapt learning content ensuring equity and consistency in Curtin College delivery

**Qualifications**:
**Qualifications and Selection Criteria**:
**Essential**:

- Tertiary qualifications at a Postgraduate level or higher in a relevant discipline area.
- Two years of teaching experience at college level or equivalent within a higher education environment.
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills relevant to discipline or industry standards for design and drafting
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of innovative approaches to learning and teaching.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and participate equitably on collaborative tasks.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.

**Desirable**:

- Experience working in a relevant industry
- Knowledge of undergraduate and postgraduate programs at a tertiary level.
- Awareness of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015, the Education Services of Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2017.
- Experience in digitally assisted teaching
