Kairos Community College is seeking an organised, values-driven Assistant Business Manager to strengthen our College's business operations and support the Executive Principal and Business Manager across Finance, HR, Facilities, Governance, and Compliance.
About the Role
The Assistant Business Manager plays a pivotal part in ensuring the College runs smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory, financial, and operational requirements. This position supports all non‐teaching functions and contributes directly to strategic planning and business improvement across the College.
You will work closely with the Business Manager and Executive Principal to strengthen the College's operational capabilities and prepare for future leadership opportunities in school business management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
* Support day-to-day financial operations including accounts, payroll, reconciliations, and reporting.
* Assist in preparing budgets, financial statements, and Board reporting.
* Support cashflow monitoring, forecasting, and statutory compliance (BAS, FBT, payroll tax).
* Maintain accurate financial records and support audit preparation.
* Assist with grants, acquittals, commercial agreements, and leases.
Human Resources & Payroll
* Maintain staff records, compliance documentation, and induction processes.
* Support reporting, Award interpretation, and HR queries.
* Assist with wellbeing and WHS initiatives.
Facilities, ICT & Operations
* Coordinate contractors and maintenance schedules.
* Maintain asset registers and support procurement and contract administration.
* Assist with ICT licensing, access management, and operational planning.
Compliance & Risk Management
* Maintain compliance registers and assist with risk assessments, incident reporting, WHS processes, and policy reviews.
* Support regulatory reporting and audit requirements.
Governance
* Assist in preparing Board and committee papers, agendas, and meeting logistics.
* Maintain governance documentation, registers, and compliance calendars.
* Support onboarding of new Board members and policy review cycles.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in accounting or related discipline (required).
* Experience in a school or education-sector finance/admin environment (highly regarded).
* Strong understanding of compliance in education settings.
* Experience with financial and school management systems.
* Current Blue Card (Working With Children Check) or ability to obtain.
* Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
