We work alongside families, Foster and Kinship Carers, and community partners to help children and young people in out-of-home care feel safe, connected and supported to thrive.

About the role

We are seeking compassionate and committed Youth Workers, Foster and Kinship Care to join our Children, Youth and Families team.

As a Youth Worker, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed care and support to children and young people within at risk family environments. Your work will focus on building trusting relationships, supporting placement stability, strengthening family and community connections, and encouraging participation in age-appropriate activities that promote life skills, independence and positive self-identity.

This role requires flexibility, strong emotional intelligence and the ability to respond calmly and safely to complex and changing situations, while working in line with Anglicare's values, frameworks, policies and procedures.

This role is permanent, part-time at 20 hours per week and will be required for flexibility for morning and afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality physical, emotional, social and spiritual care to children and young people
* Build safe, respectful and trusting relationships with children and young people from diverse backgrounds
* Engage children and young people in purposeful, goal-oriented activities that build life skills, confidence and independence
* Work from a trauma-informed framework with an understanding of child development and the impacts of complex trauma
* Promote pro-social behaviour and respond to challenging behaviours using respectful, therapeutic approaches
* Participate in goal setting with children and young people, supporting their aspirations, hopes and future planning
* Support and maintain positive connections between children and young people and their family of origin, siblings and significant others, in line with care plans
* Provide safe transport and supervise family contact visits as required
* Work collaboratively with Foster and Kinship Carers, families, Anglicare practitioners and external stakeholders
* Liaise with the Department of Communities, Child Safety Services and other agencies in line with care and case plans
* Attend and actively participate in care planning, case planning and stakeholder meetings
* Maintain accurate, timely and compliant documentation, including case notes, shift reports and incident reports
* Undertake domestic duties within residential or placement settings to maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing environment
* Respond to crisis situations with flexibility while maintaining safety, risk awareness and compliance
* Contribute to program planning by sharing observations and insights gained through direct care work
* Support children and young people during transitions into, out of or between Anglicare programs
* Contribute positively to team culture and participate in supervision, team meetings and ongoing professional development
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
* Current Queensland Driver Licence
* Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
* Certificate IV or Diploma in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Youth Work, Community Services or a related field, or currently enrolled and working towards a relevant qualification
* Completion of Hope and Healing Framework Foundation Training (10 modules), or willingness to undertake
* Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts, evenings and weekends as required
* Capacity to meet the physical and functional requirements of the role
* Commitment to maintaining all required licences, certifications and credentials as current
