What is the Role?
We are seeking a Principal Analyst on a full‑time, permanent basis in our Market Regulation team, with a blend of market analysis and data science expertise to identify inefficiencies in the electricity market and model better market outcomes. As part of ERA's role as regulator of the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) rules, you will apply quantitative skills and market insights to assess market performance and develop innovative solutions to improve it.
To succeed, you will bring a keen eye for detail, a passion for solving complex problems, and the ability to turn data and insights into clear, practical advice that shapes decisions to make the market fairer and more efficient.
Key Competencies
* Data Science – Ability to use applied research, data science, quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve complex issues.
* Market / Policy Analysis – Application of data insights to understand electricity market dynamics and the influence of policy and regulation on market outcomes.
* Communication Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including capacity to engage with and convey complex technical material to varied audiences.
