The Opportunity

We're seeking experienced and professional Security Officers in Rockingham, Fremantle & Armadale to join our team in a casual role supporting WA hospitals with responsive, short-term and ongoing assignments.

As an ERS Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within hospital facilities, with a strong focus on standby duties involving mental health patients. The role requires close collaboration with clinical staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors, while providing appropriate support to individuals experiencing mental health distress or behavioural challenges.

Duties may include 1:1 and 2:1 patient Specialised Individual Treatment Support (SITS), Access Control Point roles. Security Officers in this position must demonstrate professionalism, patience, discretion, and a calm, supportive presence at all times, while strictly adhering to hospital protocols and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct security standby support for patients who may be at risk or high acuity of behavioural escalation
  • Maintain visual observation of assigned patients as directed by clinical staff
  • Support clinical teams in implementing de-escalation strategies and interventions
  • Ensure patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality is respected while maintaining safety protocols
  • Report changes in patient behaviour or incidents in accordance with SOP's
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all clinical staff and patients.
Key Skills & Attributes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Calm and composed under pressure; capable of managing emotionally charged situations
  • High level of observation and situational awareness
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and patient-centred care principles
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Physically fit and capable of responding to dynamic and high-risk situational safely
Certifications & Licences
  • Certification II in Security Operations
  • WA Security Licence
  • Current Provide First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Immunization History Statement
  • Western Australia Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
  • National Police Clearance (valid within 6 months or willing to obtain)
