Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Desktop Support Specialist to join our IT department in Canberra. As a key member, you will provide day-to-day support for the preparation, imaging, deployment, and return of ICT hardware assets.

This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Raising and processing shipping consignments using COPE and StarTrack portals;
* Packing outbound shipments and receiving inbound ICT consignments;
* Imaging and configuring new laptops, desktops, and high-spec devices for deployment;
* Resolving ICT service requests and incidents logged in ServiceNow;
* Preparing and restocking new starter laptop bundles at regional sites;
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date warehouse inventory records;
* Importing hardware hash data into Autopilot for newly imaged devices;
* Raising Microsoft support cases for device errors where required;
* Testing and evaluating new image builds as part of collaboration with the cloud team;
* Coordinating with the HAM team to support stock control and replenishment processes;
* Fulfilling new starter bundle requests for remote workers;
* Monitoring and actioning the ICT consignment shared mailbox;
* Entering and updating ICT asset information in ServiceNow, including SIM card verification;
* Initiating warranty claims with hardware vendors (e.g., Dell, HP);
* Supporting co-location project teams with workstation remediation and deployment tasks;
* Escorting third-party technicians to the build room for warranty-related repairs;
* Troubleshooting and testing returned hardware for reusability;
* Cleaning and sanitizing returned ICT devices for reuse or disposal;
* Removing SIM cards, wiping drives, and updating retirement status in ServiceNow for returned assets;
* Packaging and staging e-waste items for compliant disposal.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

* A strong understanding of ICT hardware and software systems;
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
* Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
* Knowledge of ServiceNow and Autopilot software.
