Maintenance Technician / Operations Officer Mixed-Use Retail & Commercial Asset | Sydney
An established property owner is seeking a proactive and hands‐on Maintenance Technician / Operations Officer to support the day‐to‐day operations of a prominent mixed‐use retail and commercial building.
This is a dynamic, site‐based role suited to someone who takes pride in presentation standards, operational efficiency, safety, and delivering a high‐quality tenant and customer experience.
The Role: You will play a key part in maintaining the building's performance, safety, and compliance, working closely with centre management, contractors, and service providers.
Operations & Maintenance
* Conduct daily inspections and attend to minor maintenance works (lighting, plumbing, painting, general repairs, gardening).
* Maintain plant rooms and mechanical equipment to ensure operational readiness.
* Coordinate and monitor service contractors (HVAC, fire, lifts, security, pest control, etc.).
* Oversee cleaning standards through regular inspections and contractor liaison.
* Assist in coordinating Annual Fire Safety Statement requirements.
* Support promotional and seasonal installations as required.
Contractor & Asset Coordination
* Supervise cleaning and service contractors to ensure performance and compliance standards are met.
* Obtain and assess quotes for maintenance works and upgrades.
* Maintain accurate service logs, compliance records, and contractor documentation.
Risk, Safety & Compliance
* Actively contribute to Workplace Health & Safety and risk management initiatives.
* Identify and report hazards, incidents, and corrective actions.
* Participate in Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) activities and drills.
* Ensure all works are completed in line with relevant legislation and compliance requirements.
Financial & Administrative Support
* Assist with operational budgeting and maintenance forecasting.
* Support cost control initiatives and efficiency improvements.
* Maintain accurate reporting via property management systems (e.g., Yardi).
About You
* 3+ years' experience in facilities, building operations, or property maintenance (retail or commercial preferred).
* Strong practical trade knowledge across general services and minor works.
* Experience coordinating cleaning and service contractors.
* Sound understanding of WHS, risk management, and building compliance.
* Highly organised with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Fire Safety Statement knowledge advantageous.
* Driver's licence and White Card highly desirable.
