Moss Building Design is a design-led residential practice crafting thoughtful, innovative and sustainable homes across Queensland. The business works collaboratively with clients to deliver bespoke residential projects that balance aesthetic integrity, passive design principles and practical buildability.
Due to continued growth, Moss Building Design is seeking an experienced Building Designer to join the team and deliver high-quality residential documentation with minimal supervision.
The Role
* Lead custom residential projects from concept through to construction documentation
* Produce detailed, accurate documentation and construction drawings in ARCHICAD (essential)
* Prepare council-ready documentation packages
* Develop strong, comprehensive construction detailing (this is a top technical requirement)
* Apply sound knowledge of Queensland planning schemes, NCC and relevant Australian Standards
* Ensure documentation reflects strong constructability awareness and cost considerations
* Work autonomously and manage projects from start to finish without handholding
This is not a junior drafting role. We are seeking a technically capable professional who can confidently take ownership of projects.
About You
To be considered, you will have:
* Minimum 3+ years' experience in residential building design
* Advanced proficiency in ARCHICAD (non-negotiable)
* Demonstrated expertise in construction detailing for custom residential projects
* Proven ability to manage projects independently from concept to construction
* Degree qualification (Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent building design degree)
Strong understanding of:
* Queensland planning schemes
* NCC and Australian Standards
* Residential construction methods
* Documentation quality control
You are technically strong, commercially aware, and take pride in producing accurate, buildable documentation.
