About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to join our team on a casual basis. As a member of our small team, you will be responsible for delivering best practice Radiation Oncology nursing services and contributing to an exceptional treatment experience for our patients.
You will have the opportunity to work with a friendly and knowledgeable team that can provide training and support in radiation oncology nursing. Main Responsibilities:
1. Provide exceptional patient care that meets physical and psychological needs
2. Undertake direct patient care, including education, wound management, and medication administration according to Practice Protocol
3. Manage daily patient care effectively
4. Facilitate communication with doctors, patient services, physicists, and radiation therapists, and provide feedback on patient status
5. Document, communicate, and act on all patient interactions
6. Maintain procedures, protocols, practices, and clinical guidelines in line with radiation oncology nursing standards
7. Follow medication management protocols
8. Use ISBAR for handovers and communication with allied health services, along with proper documentation
9. Demonstrate reliability, motivation, and flexibility
Requirements:
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience (preferred)
* Background in oncology nursing is desirable but not essential; training in radiation oncology nursing will be provided
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy for patients and carers
* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
* Commitment to best practice principles and quality improvement, including NSQHS standards
* Dedication to ongoing professional development
* Experience in wound care management is preferred
