PX Resources is partnering with a global funds management business to appoint a Legal Counsel into a highly visible and standalone role.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer (4-7 years PQE) to take ownership of the legal function locally, working closely with executive leadership whilst being part of a broader international legal team.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Regional Head of Legal with a dotted line to local executive leadership, this role will act as the primary legal adviser for the Australian business.
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, providing pragmatic, commercial advice across a broad range of matters in a fast-moving funds management environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Acting as the principal legal adviser to the Australian business
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating investment management agreements and related documentation
* Advising on funds, products and distribution matters, including PDSs, MIS and ongoing disclosure obligations
* Reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial and vendor agreements
* Supporting governance requirements, including company secretarial matters and board processes
* Partnering closely with compliance, risk and senior stakeholders locally and offshore
* Managing external counsel and providing guidance on Australian regulatory requirements
* Monitoring regulatory change and providing practical, business-focused advice
ABOUT YOU
* Circa 4–7+ years’ PQE gained in private practice and/or in-house
* Strong background in funds management / asset management (ETF, managed funds or similar exposure highly regarded)
* Comfortable operating in a lead, hands-on legal role with minimal supervision
* Sound commercial judgement, maturity and confidence to influence senior stakeholders
* Organised, pragmatic and able to balance multiple priorities
* Looking for a stable, long-term in-house role with ownership and impact
