In this role, you’ll help the business make smarter, faster decisions by improving reporting quality and ensuring clear communication with key stakeholders, including the Managing Director. Reporting to the overseas-based Group Controller, you will manage the accounting function for multiple entities.
The Position
This is a hands-on role with a broad and varied remit, including reporting, team leadership, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage consolidations across multiple entities and prepare monthly group reports and board packs for the executive leadership team
- Manage the end-to-end annual audit process, ensuring full compliance with all statutory and tax obligations, including GST, FBT, and BAS.
- Take ownership of fixed asset management to safeguard company investments and optimise asset utilisation.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and systems optimisation to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function
- Support strategic planning and investment decisions
- Mentor, motivate and develop your small finance team to ensure they are consistently high performers
- Conduct detailed Profit & Loss (P&L;) analysis to uncover meaningful business insights and support informed decision-making.
Your Profile
To be considered for this role, you should be CPA/CA qualified and able to demonstrate:
- Robust technical foundations and proven experience in leading, mentoring and developing a small finance team
- Your ability to communicate with non-financial stakeholders and influence decision-makers will be key to your success, along with your innate ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to non-financial trained professionals.
- You thrive in fast-paced, project-driven environments and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- A passion for always working to improve reporting, processes and how systems can be leveraged to provide timely and accurate information.
- Strong staff leadership experience with an ability to inspire and motivate your small team while being comfortable in a role that can be hands-on.
- Strong systems and Excel skills, coupled with an understanding of data flows and how to work through complex information to provide meaningful insights
