The Director leads the Hazardous Chemical Unit in the Specialised Health and Safety Services directorate to provide regulatory services in relation to the safe storage, handling and use of hazardous chemicals under WHS laws.
The Director leads a specialist team of advisors in the development, coordination and implementation of training, policy and technical support to OIR, other government agencies and industry related to the safe storage and handling of hazardous chemicals under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act). The position is also responsible for delivering the MQW Compliance Strategy.
The role will be responsible for high level leadership and management of ongoing initiatives, as well as the development and design of high-quality regulatory programs and services that improve the safe management of hazardous chemicals in Queensland.
