Strategic Planning Role
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, with the ability to formulate and manage development plans and amendments.
This role involves taking a lead in developing and overseeing major land use and development strategies, managing complex planning issues within defined scope, output, timeline, and budget.
The successful candidate will also assess and administer planning scheme amendments and development plans; represent the Council at Planning Panels, Advisory Committees, VCAT, and other forums.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and oversee major land use and development strategies
* Manage complex planning issues within defined scope, output, timeline, and budget
* Assess and administer planning scheme amendments and development plans
* Represent the Council at Planning Panels, Advisory Committees, VCAT, and other forums
* Contribute to the monitoring, maintenance, and reform of the Casey Planning Scheme
* Liaise with government agencies, community organisations, and other stakeholders with respect to land use planning, development issues, and strategic projects
* Plan and lead community engagement activities to gather input and inform planning processes
* Prepare briefs, engage, and manage external consultants for strategic planning and legal matters, while supervising and coordinating other departmental staff
* Provide high-level technical support to the Manager, Head of Planning & Compliance, and Team Leader of Strategic Planning & Reform on both strategic and statutory issues
Requirements:
* Extensive experience as a Strategic Town Planner
* Proven experience in project management, strategy development and policy formulation and reform
* Demonstrated ability to mentor team members
* Relevant qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Studies or Urban Geography or related field
* Local government experience will be an advantage
* Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check & Eligibility to Work check
