About the Role:

This is the ideal opportunity for existing Disability or Aged Care Support Workers or those who are also looking to transition into support work. Citywide Australia is a business that values people and experience. The ideal candidate will be friendly, confident, professional and work well as part of a team. Experience of working in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting people with a disability to live in their home and when they are out in the community. Supports and assistance to be provided may also include domestic assistance, meal preparation, personal care, social, community participation, behaviour support, therapeutic activities and a range of other individualised services and supports.
Being caring, patient and willing to learn is essential to succeed in this role. You will need to build rapport, find common ground and develop a connection with participants while maintaining professional boundaries.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mentoring participants in their life goals and skills development.
* Assistance with daily living tasks such as personal care, preparation of meals and other general domestic tasks.
* Responding to the needs of the participants' and collaborating positively with their families, support people and others in their lives.
* Medication administration and completing drug charts where relevant, observing and reporting any observed changes to the participants health, including any incidents through internal systems.
* Promoting independence, providing choice, encouraging inclusiveness and respecting the rights and privacy of an individual with a disability, through planning and creating opportunities.
* Balance your Duty of Care with the right of the participant working within the context of their ability.
* Work within the NDIS legislation framework.
* Increase networking with mainstream services and community events that could be of interest to the participants being supported.
* To undertake specific training as required based on the individual needs of participants as required.
Essential:
* Similar work experience (preferred but not essential).
* Good communication skills (verbal and written).
* Certification in disability support provision or similar industries.
* Current police check.
* Current first aid and CPR certificate.
* WWVP card.
* An unrestricted Driver's License.
* A reliable car with comprehensive insurance.
* Workers Screening number.
* A strong work ethic, together with an open and empathetic nature.
* Completed the NDIS worker orientation modules.
* Infection control modules.
