Join Mackay Base Hospital as a Graduate Clinical Coder in a structured, full-time training program to develop clinical coding expertise.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
* Engage in self-directed learning to build clinical coding and audit competencies.
* Participate fully in all educational modules, study sessions, and group learning activities as part of the Clinical Coding Accelerated Graduate Training Program (AGTP).
* Achieve a minimum score of 80% in all module assessments to demonstrate competency and progression.
* Commit to the structured 12-month program timeline without modifications.
* Support the clinical coding function by contributing to accurate and timely completion of monthly coding requirements at Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
* Comply with all relevant service quality standards, occupational health and safety regulations, and organisational policies and procedures.
* Fulfil responsibilities in accordance with Queensland Public Service and MHHS values.
* Maintain a healthy and safe work environment and uphold information security and management standards.
About You
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
* Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
* Completed a Diploma of Clinical Coding or Bachelor of Health Information Management within 18 months prior to appointment.
* Provide a complete transcript including tutor feedback from the mandatory course.
* Capacity to work full-time throughout the 12-month training program and subsequent 12 months at AO4 level.
* Commitment to working on site at Mackay Hospital and Health Service with occasional travel to Brisbane for onsite training.

* Salary range: $76,963 to $85,591 per annum ($2,950.00 to $3,280.70 per fortnight).

Training & Development
* Participation in the Clinical Coding Accelerated Graduate Training Program (AGTP) delivered by the State Health Information Management and Clinical Coding Support team.
* Structured, supported on-the-job training designed to fast-track participants into competent clinical coding professionals.
Career Progression
* First 12 months at AO3 level during the training program.
* Subsequent 12 months working at AO4 level at Mackay Base Hospital to build further expertise.
