This is a backfill position, open to existing Queensland government employees. It is a Temporary Part‐Time capacity (0.4FTE), 29 hours per fortnight, with extensions not to exceed 12 months.

About The Role
As the Court Liaison Officer you will support vulnerable young people involved in the criminal justice system to re‐engage with education and training. You will represent the Department before the Children's Court and collaborate with Youth Transition Officers, government agencies and community stakeholders.
In This Role You Will
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Magistrates, Judges, Youth Justice Services, legal representatives, police and community organisations.
* Build strong relationships with young people and families involved in the Youth Justice System.
* Assess enrolment status and liaise with young people, their families, legal representatives, police and youth justice staff to offer educational assistance.
* Refer young people to appropriate support or advocacy avenues.
* Provide information related to a young person's educational history to the Courts.
We Are Looking For
* Experience working with at‐risk or disengaged students who have a criminal justice background and their families.
* Ability to develop and implement support plans.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, schools and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrated cultural competency, especially with First Nations students and diverse backgrounds.
* High standards of confidentiality, conduct and information privacy.
The Following Would Also Be Favourable
* Familiarity with education, youth justice and child protection systems.
* Prior experience in multi‐disciplinary teams.
* Understanding of inclusive education principles.
