Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a
Structural Drafter
, based in
Beenleigh, QLD
.
The Structural Drafter will be responsible for preparing detailed structural drawings for residential and light commercial projects. The role requires more than tracing — we are looking for someone who can visualise how structural elements are assembled and understand how components connect in real construction.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
* Drafting residential timber framing layouts
* Preparing slab and footing plans (raft slabs, waffle slabs)
* Structural detailing for concrete and steel framing
* Interpreting and implementing engineering markups accurately
* Coordinating with engineers to develop practical and buildable solutions
* Maintaining high-quality documentation standards
* Meeting project deadlines and managing revisions efficiently
Qualifications
* Minimum 2-3 yr experience in structural drafting in Australia
* Strong skills in Technical and Structural Drawing
* Proficiency in
AutoCAD/REVIT
(essential)
* Experience in residential timber framing drafting
* Understanding of slab and footing detailing
* High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
* Ability to visualise structural details and how components fit together
Desirable (Advantageous but Not Mandatory)
* Basic knowledge of structural engineering design principles
* Understanding of:
* Bracing design
* Raft and waffle slab systems
* Typical concrete slab detailing
* Steel framing systems (UB, PFC, SHS, cold-formed sections)
* Familiarity with Australian Standards (AS 1684, AS 3600, AS 4100, AS 4600)
* Diploma or degree in Drafting, Engineering, or related field
