Our ancillary staff are essential in the provision of a healthy and safe workplace for our staff. These positions also contribute to the provision of a hygienic environment for the young people in our care and visitors to the Centre.
This position is rewarding as you will be aiding the organisation in providing a high-quality service, as well as delivering a service to some of the most vulnerable youths in our community.
As a Cleaner, you will specifically:
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Ensure a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained in designated areas of the Centre.
• Cleaning in a youth detention facility including resident rooms, accommodation areas, public areas, toilets, offices and dining rooms etc.
• Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and participate in the infection control program
• Maintain records of completion of cleaning schedule duties
• Competence in handling of floor buffers and high-pressure hoses
• Experience using commercial or industrial cleaning products
• Solid knowledge of cleaning products and safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals
• High attention to detail with 5-star work standards
• Good communication and time-management skills
• Knowledge of safe work practices and manual handling
• Be available to complete day shift rostered hours
• Ensure all cleaning materials and equipment are securely stored and maintained in a condition suitable for next use.
• Liaise with the Stores Officer concerning purchase/replacement of cleaning materials.
• Reporting security, safety and damage concerns to the Manager, Administration and Finance.
• Maintain a safe, secure and productive working workplace.
