Job Title: Senior Communications Advisor
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Communications Advisor. This is a key role that will play a pivotal part in shaping the public image and community engagement strategy for a significant infrastructure project.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and delivering successful communication and engagement strategies. They will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication plans, overseeing stakeholder engagement initiatives, and maintaining a positive relationship between the project and the public.
The Senior Communications Advisor will work closely with senior leadership to provide expert advice and support on communication and community engagement matters. They will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of communication activities and reporting on community engagement outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to support the infrastructure project's objectives and milestones
* Lead community engagement efforts, including public consultation, to foster positive relationships and address community concerns
* Craft clear and compelling messaging for various platforms, such as media releases, social media, newsletters, and project updates
* Coordinate with project managers, government bodies, and contractors to ensure accurate and timely communication of project developments
* Prepare briefing materials, speeches, and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders
* Monitor and analyze media coverage, public opinion, and industry trends to inform communication strategies
* Manage crisis communications and issues resolution, providing swift and appropriate responses to mitigate potential negative impacts on the project and department's reputation
Requirements:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in a communications and community engagement role, preferably within infrastructure, construction, or government sectors
* International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification, or a willingness to obtain certification independently
* Proven track record of developing and delivering successful communication and engagement strategies
* Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail
* Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
* Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with experience managing stakeholders at all levels
