Everleigh State School is experiencing rapid growth and exciting change, and we are seeking a passionate, future focussed Head of Department (Curriculum) to help shape the next phase of our teaching and learning journey. This leadership role is central to driving high quality curriculum implementation, building teacher capability, and improving student outcomes across the school. The position is for Semester 1, 2026 with the possibility of extension.

In this role, you will:

Curriculum Leadership

* Lead the design, implementation, monitoring, and review of curriculum programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
* Support teachers to plan for and deliver high-impact instruction, with a focus on consistency and quality across year levels.
* Guide the school in embedding Structured Literacy principles and using DIBELS data to drive targeted instruction and intervention.

Teacher Development & Capability Building

* Facilitate professional learning that increases teacher expertise in curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment.
* Work collaboratively with our Pedagogical Coach to coach and mentor teachers to adopt evidence based practices, particularly in literacy and early years foundational skills.
* Model exemplary teaching and data informed decision making.

Data & Assessment

* Lead whole-school assessment processes, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of student achievement data.
* Support staff in using data (including DIBELS and internal school data sets) to inform planning, differentiation, and intervention.

Team Leadership and School Improvement

* Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic, growing leadership team to drive the school's strategic agenda.
* Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

Contribute to school-wide improvement initiatives and reporting requirements.

About You

You will be a strong fit for this role if you are:

* An experienced educator with a strong understanding of curriculum design, implementation, and assessment practices.
* Knowledgeable in Structured Literacy, the Science of Reading, and data-driven literacy improvement.
* Familiar with or willing to build capacity in DIBELS to support school-wide literacy screening and progress monitoring.
* A collaborative leader who thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment.
* Skilled at building teacher capability through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
* A proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful applicant will be a collaborative, strategic educator with a deep understanding of evidence based literacy practice. Expertise in Structured Literacy and assessment frameworks such as DIBELS is highly desirable.
