YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE

0.2 EFT (Fixed-term funded position) Paediatric/AYA Oncologist – Brain Cancer

The Victorian Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Service is pleased to announce funding for the appointment of a Paediatric/AYA Oncologist to the AYA Brain Cancer Program at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. This 0.2 EFT role brings specialist paediatric oncology expertise into the adult sector, ensuring developmentally appropriate, high-quality care tailored to the unique medical and psychosocial needs of young people (≤39 years) with brain cancer.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, the clinician will integrate paediatric and AYA oncology principles for patients throughout treatment, survivorship and follow-up care. In addition to direct clinical care, the role will support the ongoing development and implementation of the AYA brain cancer model of care, encompassing clinical pathways, protocols, and standardised practices to optimise patient outcomes and service delivery.

The position will also contribute to expanding access to clinical trials, fostering translational research, and providing specialist consultation to clinical teams. By bridging paediatric and adult oncology, the appointee will address service gaps, drive quality improvement initiatives, and ensure that evidence-based, patient‐centred care is embedded across the AYA cancer pathway.

In addition, the Paediatric/AYA Oncologist will support workforce development through mentoring fellows, registrars, and multidisciplinary team members, and represent paediatric oncology within state-wide and national forums. Through leadership in clinical care, research, and service innovation, this role strengthens the AYA Brain Cancer Program, maximising patient outcomes and engagement in cutting‐edge research.

Applicants to this role should provide a covering letter outlining relative key skills and experience to assist us with our assessment.
